In Thailand, there is
one of the special days that everyone in Thailand knows well because today, you
can see the gorgeous full moon shining beautifully in the sky and you can enjoy
the festival established around the place nearby water, such as canal, lake,
pond, and river. This special day is Loy Krathong day.
Loy Krathong day, which is the
full-moon day of the twelfth lunar month (November), is the special day of
Thailand but it’s not the holiday. The purpose of this day is to apologize
humbly to the goddess Kongkha, who is goddess of the water, by floating Kratong, which is banana-leaves cub with one candle and three incense-sticks, in the water. The
ceremony of Loy Krathong day will be provided at night time around the place
nearby water. You can enjoy the festival providing many things for you, such as
game zone, food shop, toy shop, and especially “Kratong”. Kratong is not only
the thing very important in this festival but also is the symbol of Loy
Krathong day because if we don’t have Kratong in Loy Krathong day, how can we call
it Loy Krathong day? Actually, you can add something precious into this
banana-leaves cub, such as coin and bill. People believed that bringing the
money into the Kratong, it will bring more money back to them as the Thai
idiom, Ngern Thong Lai Ma Tay Ma, gaining a lot of money. Besides, you can go
to the temple for bowing the Buddha statue, praying, and making a merit.
Finally, the special thing of this ceremony is the perfect beautiful firework
especially provided for this day and at the end, you can enjoy the concert of
musician and the famous singer. That’s very amazing!
Loy Krathong day is
not only the day people do apologize for the goddess Kongkha but you can also
